Kim  McLean

Accomplished songwriter Kim McLean has had over 400 songs recorded by music royalty, including Tim McGraw, Trisha Yearwood, and Lee Ann Womack. In 2018, McLean established what became a cherished friendship with the late, great Loretta Lynn. In honor of that friendship, McLean is debuting a new show to share the stories, laughs, and memories of her time with the country music legend. This concert will feature McLean’s best-selling songs, Loretta Lynn hits, and songs co-written by McLean and Lynn.

Kim first met the icon at a writer’s night in Nashville in 2018. Kim was playing the round, and Loretta and her family were there watching Loretta’s grandkids perform. Her daughter Patsy asked Kim if she’d like to meet her mom. The answer was a quick, "yes!" She and Loretta connected immediately, and Kim was invited to her house. They were just going to talk and pray but wrote a song during that first meeting. After that they wrote a song every time Kim visited.  "I became a better songwriting working with Loretta, but through our friendship, I became a better person, too."

Kim McLean has worn numerous hats, since she moved to Nashville to pursue a career as a songwriter, but one of her most proud achievements is co-writing A Song & A Prayer with Country Music Hall of Fame member Loretta Lynn. The book was released May 23, 2023 and immediately hit #1 in three categories: Christian Inspirational, Arts & Literature Biographies, and Christian Devotionals (Books) and #6 overall on Amazon.

Kim is also an in-demand producer, helming award-winning projects for indie artists, gospel artists, and major labels. Her real strength is developing young artists, helping them find their voice, their identity in the studio, and writing their signature hits. She’s been the wind beneath the wings of acts for Capitol, Warner Brothers, Sony, and Curb.  No stranger to the recording studio, her chops as an acoustic guitar player and background vocalist have been used by Vanguard, MCA/Universal, Curb, Sony, Daywind, and a host of indie projects.

Rev. Dr. Kim McLean holds an MA in Religion and Doctorate in Leadership from Trevecca University in Nashville. She has been an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene since 2009. She taught songwriting at Trevecca until this year.
