Made up of professional musicians from the Northern Virginia area and
led by trumpeter Dave Shuma and vocalist Wendy Marie, the Silver
Tones Swing Band has been entertaining audiences since 2012. The
Silver Tones’ show consists of the classic big band swing hits from
the 1940s plus many more show-stopping tunes from the 1950s, 1960s,
and beyond! Come swing with us!
The Silver Tones have performed
all over the DC Metropolitan Area and Virginia, bringing their big
band sound to countless swing dances, galas, and celebrations. The
band is proud to bring to the stage their Silver Belles vocal trio,
who recreate the exciting music of the Andrews Sisters from the
1940s era. Solo vocalists, Wendy Marie and Gene Bates, also bring
audiences the dynamic music of Natalie Cole, Nat King Cole, Frank
Sinatra, Bette Midler, Ella Fitzgerald, Bobby Darin, and Peggy Lee,
plus many others.
The Silver Tones Swing Band brings the classic American music of the
Big Band era to audiences of all ages and provides regular
performances and swing dances for the community in a family-friendly
atmosphere. Admission to performances is reasonably priced and
includes discounted tickets for youth and senior citizens. The
Silver Tones Swing Band strongly supports active and retired members
of the U.S. Armed Forces and strives to bring music to senior
citizen communities. The band works with local school systems to
mentor young jazz artists and to raise money for arts programs
through swing dance fundraisers.
